I understand that each local authority has a list of void residential properties in their borough that are not being properly maintained by their owners. Could I kindly ask for a list of the void properties in your district/borough?

Further to your request for Information. It is not possible to provide the Information you requested as it is covered by a Qualified Exemption and the Council considers that it is not in the Public Interest to release the Information.

While there is public interest in bringing empty property back into use this should be weighed against the potential of criminal activity at the property and consideration given to residents of neighbouring properties for criminal activity or fear of such in the area. for these reasons we believe the public interest is in favour of non disclosure

Under section 31(1)(a) of the act Prejudice to the prevention or detection of crime.

The council is aware that the tribunal decision is not binding on any case other than the one under its immediate deliberation, however the council does believe that the deliberations of the tribunal in this matter are helpful, and they continue to form an important part of the council"s decision making process.
