East Herts Council Response

11 June 2020

Thank you for your request for information, this has now been processed and the information that we hold is enclosed.

The East Herts Council Leadership Team comprises the Chief Executive, Deputy Chief Executive and 8 Heads of Service.  The job descriptions are attached however I thought it would be important to explain some background with regard to the Heads of Service job descriptions.  When the Leadership Team structure was reviewed in 2016 a generic job description was produced for all Heads of Service to ensure that there was consistency in terms of their accountabilities regarding e.g. Strategic Management/Leadership, Customer Service, and Communications.  Where Heads of Service recruitment has taken place since 2016, job descriptions have been updated.  This means that some Heads of Service will have generic job descriptions and some will have job descriptions that are more specific to their role and duties.

The following Heads of Service have generic job descriptions:

  • Head of Revenues and Benefits
  • Head of Operations
  • Head of Housing and Health
  • Head of Communications, Strategy and Policy
  • Head of Planning (has a generic job description plus a separate document outlining key responsibilities)

The following Heads of Service have job descriptions that are more specific to their role and duties:

  • Head of Human Resources & Organisational Development
  • Head of Legal and Democratic Services
  • Head of Strategic Finance and Property

If you have any queries or complaint about the processing of your request please do not hesitate to contact me.
