Thank you for your request for information, this has now been processed and the information that we hold is enclosed.

  1. How much your council spends on the collection, disposal and minimisation of recyclable waste per year.
    • What portion of your budget is this expenditure?
    • EHDC had a gross spend on recycling in 2018/19 of £4,053,961 (4.7% of gross budget) and in 2019/20 £3,812,000 (4.4%).
  2. How much your council spends on the collection, disposal and minimisation of non-recyclable waste – through landfill, incineration or other – per year?
    • What portion of your annual budget is this expenditure?
    •  EHDC had a gross spend on domestic waste, clinical waste and street cleansing/litter (our interpretation of headings covering non-recyclable waste) in 2018/19 of £2,825,629 (3.3% of gross budget) and in 2019/20 £2,914,008 (3.4%)
  3. How much your council spends on recycling waste per year.
    • What portion of your annual budget is this expenditure?

The contracts with third party providers cover both the cost of collection and the cost of recycling and there is no analysis or split of how much of the cost is attributable to collection and how much to recycling.
  4. What are your council’s annual climate change objectives?
    • Is your waste management practice linked to these objectives?
    • Could you briefly outline how?
