I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following information. If this full request goes over the cost limit, please answer questions in numerical order until cost limit is reached. 

Please may you provide me with:

1.      Do you currently use emergency housing that has been converted from offices or other commercial uses in the last 5 years?

         If Yes:-       

a)             How many families with children are currently living in converted buildings

b)             How many families with children in these building are sharing communal cooking facilities

c)              How many families with children in these buildings are sharing communal bathrooms

 

2. How many households with children are currently registered for bidding for a council home? 

3. For households with children which have been allocated permanent housing with three bedrooms or more since 23 March 2020, what was the average time they spent on the housing waiting list?

4. What is the number of households with children you currently have waiting for a decision on their homelessness application? 

5. Since 23 March 2020, how many households with children in temporary accommodation have waited for a decision on homelessness beyond 56 days?

6. For those households with children who are currently living in temporary housing, what is the average time they have spent in temporary housing so far?

7. For those households with children who are currently living in emergency housing, what is the average time they have spent in emergency housing so far?

8. How many households with children are currently living in emergency housing? 

9.  From 1 April 2020 to 31 March 2021, how many households with children made homelessness applications to the council? 

10. From 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2020, how many households with children made homelessness applications to the council?

Thank you for your request for information, this has now been processed and the information that we hold is enclosed.

1.      Do you currently use emergency housing that has been converted from offices or other commercial uses in the last 5 years? No

  • 2. How many households with children are currently registered for bidding for a council home? 942

3. For households with children which have been allocated permanent housing with three bedrooms or more since 23 March 2020, what was the average time they spent on the housing waiting list? 768 days

4. What is the number of households with children you currently have waiting for a decision on their homelessness application? 2 (this is the number of households with children for whom the relief duty has ended (i.e. 56 days has passed since the relief duty was accepted), who have not had a main duty decision)

5. Since 23 March 2020, how many households with children in temporary accommodation have waited for a decision on homelessness beyond 56 days? 1 household spent more than 56 days in interim (emergency) accommodation before receiving a decision on the relief duty.

6. For those households with children who are currently living in temporary housing, what is the average time they have spent in temporary housing so far? 53 days - all temporary accommodation (including interim accommodation)
72 days - temporary accommodation under the main housing duty only

7. For those households with children who are currently living in emergency housing, what is the average time they have spent in emergency housing so far? 42 days

8. How many households with children are currently living in emergency housing? 11

9.  From 1 April 2020 to 31 March 2021, how many households with children made homelessness applications to the council? 256 households with children approached the council for homelessness assistance. 85 of these households were given advice only.  The remaining 171 were dealt with under prevention, relief and main housing duty

10. From 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2020, how many households with children made homelessness applications to the council? 380 households approached the council for homelessness assistance  108 of these were given advice only.  The remaining 272 were dealt with under prevention, relief and main housing duty
