Customer Request Details

20 October 2021

I would like to submit a freedom of information request.

Can you share with me information about what happens with the bins/recycling that is collected?

Is recycling delivered to a dedicated place to process recycling? Is recycling taken to the same place as general waste?

If you could explain, that would be great.

Thank you for your request for information, this has now been processed and the information that we hold is enclosed.

The paper and co-mingled material is delivered to our depot in Buntingford where it is bulked.

Paper is then collected by Palm who take the material and recycle it. The comingled material is taken by Pearce to St Albans where it is sorted into its various material streams and then sold on as a commodity.

General waste is also bulked at the depot in Buntingford however this is taken else where for processing.

If you have any queries or complaint about the processing of your request please do not hesitate to contact me.
