East Herts Council Response

21 January 2022

Thank you for your request for information, this has now been processed and the information that we hold is enclosed.

1. Does the council take any of its energy from on-site renewable energy installations? If so, which ones?

The Council currently owns one building with a renewal energy Installation. This is the new Leisure Centre at Grange Paddocks, Bishops Stortford. This new build has Solar PV panels on the roof. This building is leased to Everyone Active our leisure provider, so the leaseholder maintains the building and the PV Panels and pay the utilities and therefore gain the benefit from the Renewable energy installation

2. Are there any eco-friendly initiatives for staff members to partake in? E.g. green transport solutions, recycling initiatives. If so, please state them.

Staff have access to electrec vehicles through a car club, facilities are in place at the office for recycling of batteries, printer toner etc there are regular promotions to encourage use of green transport such as breakfast for those cycling to work and more shower facilities to encourage running walking or cycling to work

3. Who is the main energy supplier for local council buildings, and are you on a green/renewable energy tariff with them?

The Council"s main electricity supplier is EDF and our accounts are all on their Blue Business Tariff, which certifies that the energy all comes from Nuclear or Renewal energy production and not gas or coal  station production.

If you are unsatisfied with the way the Council has handled your request please let us know in the first instance so that an internal review can be carried out. Additionally,  If you have any queries about the processing of your request please do not hesitate to contact me.
