East Herts Council Response

20 April 2022

Thank you for your request for information, this has now been processed and the information that we hold is enclosed.

  1. The following complaints have been recorded by the Community Safety Team.  These complaints include where someone has submitted a linked reporting form, emailed a member of the team, directly telephoned, written by post, or another department has passed the complainant to our team.  Please note the return for 2019 is incomplete due to a procedural change in how we recorded complaints and therefore not a full reflection of the year.
    2019: 7
    2020: 89
    2021:  105
  2. In regards to all of the complaints noted above (n. 201) all of them would have been investigated to a varying degree.  Each complainant would have been given words of advice, and where appropriate (and consent provided) discussion with partners or colleagues as to what action(s) should follow.   This could be leaflet drops, requesting diarised evidence, joint visits, statements being taken, site visits.  Out of the 201 total complaints 37 were made anonymously; this impacts upon actions and investigations, however, the information would have been shared appropriately and recorded for each one.

Community Protection Warning (CPW)

Community Protection Notice (CPN)

The above numbers are in relation to where the council has issued a CPW / CPN. It should however be noted that all CPWs in East Herts issued by a member of the Community Safety Partnership are done in partnership, so the total numbers issued will be higher.

If you are unsatisfied with the way the Council has handled your request please let us know in the first instance so that an internal review can be carried out. Additionally,  If you have any queries about the processing of your request please do not hesitate to contact me.
